Tibby's second chance: From heartbreak to hope
Tibby’s Second Chance: From Heartbreak to Hope
At Thornbury Vet Hospital, we see our fair share of animals in need, but every so often, a story touches our hearts a little deeper. Tibby, a sweet and gentle 6 year old male cat, came to us under difficult circumstances. His owner, no longer able to care for him, made the heart-wrenching decision to surrender him into our care. While it's never an easy choice, it was made with Tibby’s best interests at heart.
When Tibby arrived, it was clear he was in discomfort. He had painful ulcerations in his mouth that required urgent attention. Before we could even think about a long-term solution, Tibby needed medication to manage the inflammation and pain. Once stable, he underwent a dental scale and polish, which thankfully revealed that no extractions were necessary. He handled it like a champ, charming the entire team with his resilience and soft purrs. During his recovery he was cared for by one of our nurses Georgie at her home.
At Thornbury Vet Hospital, we donate $1 from every consultation to a charity of an employee’s choice. It’s a small act with a big impact. For Tibby, that fund helped cover the cost of his treatment, giving him the care he needed without delay.
But Tibby’s story doesn’t end there.
Our friends at Forever Friends Animal Rescue stepped in to help find Tibby the loving home he deserved. After receiving the medical attention he needed and a whole lot of TLC, Tibby was ready for a fresh start—and he found it. He’s now curled up in a cozy home, adored by his new forever family, and living the life every cat deserves.
Tibby’s tale is one of second chances and the power of compassion. We’re incredibly proud to have played a small part in his journey and grateful to the organisations and individuals who help animals like Tibby every single day.
Welcome home, Tibby. 💛
